Governing board self-evaluation questions updated for 2022

10 years ago The Key, the National Governance Association (NGA) and the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Education Governance and Leadership worked together to produce 20 key questions for boards to use to evaluate their own performance - an important part of any governing board's annual cycle. A set of questions for MAT boards followed in 2015, featuring 21 questions for trust boards and 16 questions for local governing boards.

Following a consultation earlier this year, the NGA has updated both documents for 2022. The revised questions now include a greater emphasis on board dynamics, culture and behaviours, and have shorter, focused statements for reflection. NGA have also published new guidance to support boards make the most of the self-evaluation questions.
