An increasing number of children are starting school with speech and language difficulties, a new poll suggests. 89% of YouGov poll respondents reported a decline in speech and language skills since 2020, with 92% highlighting that this is making teaching more difficult [Schools Week]

Headteacher gender pay gap at its worst for 13 years. The average pay gap between male and female headteachers in 2023-24 was £8,648 – up 6% from the previous year. The hardest hit group are female headteachers over 60, where the gap widens to £14,352 [Tes magazine - subscription required]
